R. Alex Reed, joins Meritus University as the Vice President Operations/University Registrar. He brings with him over 20 years of experience in higher education registrar services.
Throughout his career, Mr. Reed has proven himself to be capable of successfully dealing with heavy recruitment influx and student service integration, as well as possessing a fervent energy to move ideas forward with a passion for service and excellence. His experience includes key roles with Canadian universities and institutions including Registrar and Director of Customer Services, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, University Registrar and Associate Vice President, University of Northern British Columbia, Registrar at Athabasca University.
Mr. Reed holds a Hon. BA in History and Canadian Studies from Trent University and is enrolled in a Master’s of Distance Education.
He has been actively involved with a number academic committees and professional organizations. Among them: the Provincial Operational Committee for E-Campus Alberta and the Noel-Levitz Training Session on Enrollment Management. He acted as a consultant for the Royal Roads University of British Columbia helping to structure their student services and registrar’s office operation.
Mr. Reed is described as highly empathetic when working with students, staff, and faculty. As a testament to this, Mr. Reed was awarded the Community Award by the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) Student Association and the Athabasca University Student Association Award of Service.
Mr. Reed’s extensive expertise in registrar management and his commitment to student services will be invaluable to Meritus University, Canada’s newest online university.
